  1. There are so many racists attacks getting reported and most of them are either students or working professionals. These immigrants are not causing burden to Ireland and are contributing members of the public. Will the guards still report they don’t see rise in racial attacks ? They might if they don’t register them

  2. Exactly, what an ironic idiot, the man he racially abused actually came to his aid and was kind to him. These people make me ashamed to be Irish. Imagine being screamed and threatened on your way to work in a hospital where you pay tax, usc and prsi, help the local community and contribute to society.

They are an embarrassment to our country and society. I also feel sorry for them as most of these people are from low income and low intelligence settings and are just listening to everyone else and that’s the environment they were brought up in.

  3. The racist conspiracy theorists think their heros, true Irish patriots defending Ireland when in reality they’re pathetic losers. Physically and verbally attacking innocent men, women and children all because of a skin colour.
Flying the Irish flag to mark out white only territory and Turing it into a symbol of hate jst like the rebel and union jack flag.

  4. Not an Irish, but I often frequent this sub, and I believe the ultimate tragedy will be that these bigoted people will make a lot of skilled immigrants leave. There are other options for these professionals too.

    **From the article:**

*“Everything was very good here,” he said. “I was glad to stay here with my family, although I have options to go to Canada, Australia or the UK.“*

*The only reason I stayed in Ireland is because I liked the people. A doctor can earn much more elsewhere, but people were so warm and humane. But now my narrative is changing and my wife wants us to leave. My daughter is only one month old. I’m now worried about her growing up here.”*

**His reaction was extraordinarily kind too:**

*“I sat with him and told this man, ‘Don’t cry’. It was cold outside. I gave him my jacket and asked him to come inside.*

*“That’s what a doctor does. We look after people. It was a natural reaction for me, as I have a heart.*

*“I felt like this man was in agony, and I was worried about him. But, of course, this has hurt me physically and it’s made me concerned about my future in Ireland.”*

  5. When will the justice minister put stronger MINIMUM sentences in place for these vile hate / race based attacks? There’s no point increasing the maximum sentence, considering nobody ever gets near it. We need stronger minimum sentences.

Sending him an email right after writing this.

  6. The very best thing you can do is make friends with people from other countries. If you’re seen chatting and laughing with them in cafes, on the street, etc, it has a big effect on what people see as normal.
