I mean… what are we supposed to do? Complain? Complaining doesn’t do anything.
Absolutely legitimate.
Opposing the official policy of the government is perhaps the reason why they are ex diplomats.
Either way I don’t understand their relevance and why should we be airing their opinions anymore than that of other citizens
Its simple. We have a drone contract with the israelis. Switzerland won’t try and hurt said contract. That’s what the foreign minister meant when he said “its not the right moment”.
Thats called being neutral. Doing business with criminals and genocide enjoyers is pretty SOP for Switzerland for a few world wars now.
Classic swiss politics they only use the neutral card when it benefits them
this “neutrality” is just a form of political self-justification and selective engagement, echoing wartime hypocrisy
It’s frequently been used selectively to protect Switzerland’s own interests and justify actions that contradict the ethical or moral expectations associated with true neutrality.
Well, with Cassis being zionist-friendly and probably being bought by them, nobody wonders that our political class doesn’t do much. Then, it’s the civil duty of every citizen to at least denounce what happens. I’m not saying to go out and protest, blocking railways, or destroy things meaninglessly. BDS, or boycotting brands and products, is a good step, too.
It is not because Gaza is a fancy topic that the government should have a position on it. It is not Switzerland’s matter, that’s all.
Rightly so, our inaction in this matter will tarnish our humanitarian reputation forever. We are really working on destroying every bit of what we stand for.
Fuck Cassis and the other three complicit fucks in our federal council.
Typical swissinfo “journalism”, no names mentioned, no link to the open letter. I seriously cant understand how such lazy ass journalism is acceptable for an SRG SSR outlet.
