But to get to the ugliest component of today’s jobs report one had to dig deeper, only then one would find that the number of full-time jobs tumbled by 357K, the second consecutive month of sharp full-time job losses… while part-time jobs surged by 597K, the biggest increase since February.
It’s worse when you realize we need 50-70k news jobs per month to keep up with population growth. So unemployment has been increasing under these conditions.
It would be much more useful if we added a red line on the graph showing the minimum needed to stand still cause it isn’t zero.
I feel incredibly grateful to have started a new job in August after doing part time 1099 work for seven months

That’s intentional. Notice how the decline began in 2022. That’s when the Fed increased rates. The Fed *restricts* the economy. That’s the way to curb inflation. Raise rates, slow down growth and spending.
This shouldn’t catch anyone off guard.

You can’t base that statement on the jobs reports, look at GDP for that. Compare the jobs numbers with unemployment numbers.
