>The report highlights the profound impact of socioeconomic factors on mental health. People with lower incomes or levels of education, single-parent families, and groups experiencing discrimination are at greater risk. People with disabilities are disproportionately affected, partly because, the report argues, “they are less likely to find paid employment”.
>Moreover, timely assistance for mild or moderate needs, particularly psychotherapy, is often only privately accessible and therefore only available to those who can afford it.
we really gotta stop sweeping mental health under the rug. It’s 2021, peeps, time we take this issue seriously.
We can’t fully express the damage done by covid, starting high school on zoom, struggling to connect faces, bodies, and voices once we returned to class. But hey, we got vaccinated, so people assumed we should be good. Then we have to face crisis, then we have to deal with ai, war, climate change. Let’s be real, people are blaming genZ too much instead trying to understand us. That data is no surprise.
p.s.
but, hey, they need ChatControl.
Eurofound (**2025**), Mental health: Risk groups, trends, services and policies, Publications Office of the European Union, Luxembourg.
Hopelessness deaths have also risen btw
Greedy society leading to people feeling left behind, as things get worse, I can sadly assume this will only go up.
no wonder, as in most of the EU countries mental health is still NOT covered by the public health insurance, what a shame.
Shitty ass site. Can’t “continue without accepting”, can’t manage cookie settings, but accepting works just fine.
You need to see the good out of all of this, the rich are getting richer.
boomers are having a blast at least
all is good
Is this not a bit misleading?
Suicide is always the top cause of death for young people, I mean they’re hardly dying of cancers
maybe raise taxes so that people have even less to live off, increase regulation so that building permits are even more difficult to get and then print more money so that we have higher inflation
From the article: “Men are 3.7 times more likely to die by suicide than women.”
I feel like that is just not an interesting narrative for anyone right now, so it’s not in focus at all.
The rise in teenage suicides for girls is the only hope this gets the attention it needs, so we finally adress it and hopefully reduce it.
I moved legally to here in 2022, from a Latin American country, and the idea of suicide has been crossing my mind a couple times, not because I want it, but because I feel trapped and that sounds like the least-resistance path.
Again, I am not suicidal, but all the bullshit, problems, the threat of war, the whole wave of illegal immigrants threatening my life in the streets, the salary stagnation and feeling like basic things (e.g. having a family or a pet) are so out of reach, plus being so far away from home, make everything feel so full of despair.
We need to remove the stigma that somehow people offing themselves are mentally ill.
People should be not be judged to come to a perfectly rational conclusion that a life working 3 shifts in Mcdonalds isnt worth living. They earned a break and the least we can do is to not treat them like they are some sort of damaged goods.
Finland, the home of the “happiest” suicides apparently.
Can relate to this, I will never be able to buy a house in my country and I’m forced to live in a shitty city that only cares about tourism and expats.
I think social media has lot of BAD impact on mental health, think about Instagram, TikTok.
But of course these matters aren’t really tackled.
I wonder when the population will start choosing and voting for future politicians who actually would take measures that change our life for good.
It ultimately is pretty frustrating to be always ignored and surpassed by the usual faces who are all part of the same old circle of pointless or outright harmful policies.
And the ironic and lovely thing is that many measures go hand in hand: free housing, low cost energy, better education, reduced suicide rates, increase in childbirths. Many of these can go together, but nooo, we can’t do that. Why? Lobbies, capitalism, interests. But hey we have democracy. Until we realise politics is somewhat paywalled, propaganda, advertising, circles, travelling for conferences.
it’s. So. Frustrating. man i should open a gofundme for my politicla movement.
While EU still focuses con laws to avoid an apocalyptic future the fact is that the present its already fucked
Spain as an example:
Housing crisis, in some places you cant even rent your own place, forcing you to stay with your parents or sharing a flat with randoms that usually are not even from your own country and will rotate every few months
Low salaries while prices keep going up
Uncontrolled mass inmigration which results in an even worst scenario for housing and increased crime rates (why keep importing people if the one who we are already here we dont have a good quality of life?!?!?!)
Midle class opresive agenda (prohibition of using older cars of people who cannot aford a new one)
Im now 36 but all this problems already existed back in 2020, it really affects me.
I literally feel that I live in a country that hates me while they try to save people thousands of KM away
PS: Sorry for the broken english
Estonia: “Highest inflation in the EU 27″,”highest rise in prices in the EU”, “We are introducing additional taxes and raising others”
Yeah, i get why people off themselves more.
Oh shoot im running out of time, I just turned 29
Corporate and boomer greed ruining the economy for younger people? who would have thought.
Cost of living, constant atrocities everywhere, ecological collapse imminent, and now they’re coming for our privacy as well, it’s no wonder people end up having a bleak outlook.
More immigrarion, more big brother, more kneeling down to us, russia and china. People arent having kids and the cost of living is going through the roof for young people but nooooo lets vote 70 year olds as our leaders and hope that they can understand or relate to young people any way. We need young strong leaders in europe, not some random grandma ive never heard of
Waiting for the people who keep yapping about how good the economy is right now.
Europeans are finding their inner lithuanian
No shit, Sherlock. Fucking hell.
This will only get worse as median house prices continue to increase. It’s no wonder why Gen Z’s are reluctant to having kids. And to make matters worse, an aging EU population is another issue in terms of pension costs for governments, especially in Western Europe. So in a way the affordability crisis is in one way or another fueling the upcoming pension crisis when pension payments exceed social security receipts.
How many of these were born to parents that aren’t rich enough to be having kids in the first place
