President Donald Trump is again dismissing the renewed focus on the Jeffrey Epstein case as nothing more than a “Democrat hoax” to “deflect and distract” from his administration’s successes.
The president’s post comes just two days after survivors of Epstein’s abuse stood on the steps of the US Capitol pleading for recognition and justice.
“The confused and badly failing Democrat Party did nothing about Jeffrey Epstein while he was alive except befriend him, socialize with him, travel to his Island, and take his money!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The president accused the Democratic Party of using Epstein’s crimes and victims for political gain, saying that Democratic leaders had ignored Epstein “while he was alive” and only revived interest in the case because of their “lowest poll numbers in history.”
“They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, are seeming to show such love and heartfelt concern for his victims. Does anybody really believe that? Where were they during his very public trials, and for all of those years before his death? The answer is, ‘nowhere to be found,’” Trump added.
Trump also defended the Department of Justice, claiming it had “done its job” and fully complied with subpoenas from Congress.
