Everytime I drive south I go past this place and can’t work out what in the hell it is.

It’s between Berwick and North Berwick.

Can someone end this 20 year puzzle for me right here, right now.

  1. So mad, was just thinking about this place as I’ll be traveling down past here tomorrow to head into England for a week

  2. It has a very nice beach around it too where you can find fossils.

  3. South of Dunbar you have in order of appearance:
    Cement Works
Huge quarry ( for cement works)
    Energy from Waste Plant
    Landfill site
    Torness Nuclear Power Station.

And they routed a national cycle route right alongside this!

  4. I like the fact that the architects of Torness spent ages deciding on what colour to use on the outside.

The bluey gray colour looks blue in the sunshine and grey in the glower of winter.

Must be difficult to try to make something that size blend in with its surroundings, but the colour they chose does as good a job as you’ll get!

  5. I mean there is a sign outside that says “Torness Power Station”

  6. Torness! My dad worked there for 40 years. Fun fact, there is a peregrine falcon nest on the building and they set up a webcam so they could watch the eggs hatch.

  7. Our class got to go here on a school trip back in the 90’s. Bunch of ten year olds having their absolute minds blown by how insanely cool it was to be inside a nuclear power plant. One of my favourite memories from childhood.

  8. You can visit – it has a visitors centre. They do tours, but you have to book in advance and they’ll want your passport number, but it is really interesting

  9. It’s a magical takeaway. Legend says if you order a burger there, then you have a 0.0001% chance of getting the mythical, deep fried whoppenheimer (enough calories to last you a lifetime, then some)

  10. Last landmark for a returning to gods country on the southbound A1

  11. It’s Torness. I did not know until very recently that it was a nuclear power station. Makes sense though, it is quite an ominous site, sat in the bay like that.

  12. The source of 14% of Scotland’s national power: Torness Nuclear Power Station

  13. bro has access to reddit but not google. something’s not adding up?

  14. Torness nuclear power plant but to me and my friends it’s called Tornobyl because our friend works there and he was a bit daft in school

  15. One of my fun memories of working was replacing the tape backup drive in the computer atop one of the fueling towers in there. One of the oddest computer repairs I ever did.

  16. Tunnocks factory. Uranium is what makes the white bit of the teacakes so tasty.

  17. Tip – Load up google maps on your phone anytime your near something and wana know what it is.
