Not Dishy Rishi? Surely he wouldn’t break a promise. He’s got such a nice smile!
Yeah I emailed Buckinghamshire Council to enquire when I would receive the rebate and they eventually emailed back and said:
*“The £150 will be implemented in the coming months full details will be sent as soon as this has taken place”*
It would have been far quicker for them to simply tell me to fuck off
Has anyone seen information on where this money is coming from? My suspicion is this is coming from council budgets and they are being asked to borrow it rather than it being accounted to the national debt.
It also seems somewhat opportunistic to be paying people £150 just before the local council elections although perhaps I’m being overly cynical about the Tories motivation.
A Tory lied? In _checks notes_ **2022**!!
Halt the presses, alert the media. INFORM THE POPE
Ha but of course! Soon the message will change so that he puts the blame on councils. It will be something like “councils will decide themselves if they want to offer a £150 rebate” which will let the government off the hook.
The whole thing is a fucking joke
I’m sick of these cunts.
My council said we would get it after the first payment of council tax has been made which is Tuesday.
Now the site just says “From April”.
We were relying on that so we could just bang it on prepayment meter which is killing us at the miniute.
Why do these guys never resign when all other would have
We are stuck with this fucking power cabal for life somehow now
When will we learn
No way! Runny Shitarse isn’t helping the people who are struggling with their bills. Shocker.
The whole thing is a mess, sections of society will miss out for various reasons, others may not benefit from the money but could end up paying it back on the coming years. The £150 is nice sat in my bank account right now, earmarked for fuel, but I still don’t know how much my bills will be later on the year but I do know it won’t be enough, and not knowing how much it will cost me is a scary thing. So much being thrown at us and left uncontrolled makes financial planning in the short term impossible. The Gov aren’t doing a single thing to help settle finances. People are just meant to cope.
I wonder what costs council’s are having to take on to support this scheme. It sounds like a lot of the delays come from council’s having to update IT systems, which most likely involves paying some third party company to do it.
It seems dumb to me, why not instead reduce everyone’s council tax bill by £150.
EDIT: I mean as in apply a credit on everyone’s bill, so their direct debits will be lower or amount required to repay is lower
Tory promises should be written in disappearing ink…
It’s almost as if they are a bunch of fucking liars, in the pockets of big business.
Still, “All politicians are the same” eh? “Labour would’ve done much worse”. “Ed Miliband can’t eat a bacon sandwich”.
There is a little fishy, on a little dishy, his name is dodgy Rishi and his decisions are never pretty. He will bleed an entire city, oh it will make him giddy when the taxes come in!
Cornwall council had on the website when this was announced it’ll begin payments towards the end of April. So blatantly obvious it was going to fail that immediately, and it has, at least for those I know.
It was a shitshow from the get go
Mine luckily came in a couple of days ago (Suffolk Council).
I work within the systems team for Revs & Bens and we ran our process to pay the £150 to anyone who currently pays by Direct Debit. This was done on Thursday and was the earliest we could do it as we had to rely on Capita to provide the software/scripts so the process could be carried out. Would have been far easier to just knock £150 off of people’s CT bill for the year.
