I did a project on native Irish cattle breeds a few months ago

  1. I’m a big fan of the Droimeann. Nice work! Sad to see so many of the native breeds are so small in number.

  2. Very interesting to read! I know very little about our native breeds except to say I had a burger with dexter mince one time and it was a damn fine burger! So now.

  3. Damn how come non-native breeds (just realising now most from the Benelux) have replaced them? Are they that much superior?

  4. Big Bertha was a Droimeann and was the record holder for being oldest cow in the world. She was stuffed and can be viewed on her farm in County Kerry.

  5. Great project, and congratulations on the grade. The Cork summer show is happening in June. It might be a lovely day out, and you could see the livestock judging.
