The judges can already do this, if they feel it’s in the best interest of the child. It should not be an automatic removal. Removing parental rights for parents for anything less than what’s in their best interests of the child is a veeeeery slippery slope. The family should not have the power to use the child as a bargaining piece or as punishment, which is what would happen here.
