Some dolphins that I’ve seen over the years around the North East – did you know that we’re one of the best places in the world to see them?

  1. I lived in Aberdeen for many years, where I must admit that I got quite used to seeing them! Still never stopped being an amazing sight every time they jumped out of the water around the harbour 🙂

If you enjoy these photos then I post my wildlife stuff [on Instagram ](https://www.instagram.com/jackmurraybirdwatching/)

  2. Are some of those pics at Chanonry Point by any chance?

  3. Genuinely not asking to be a dick, but are these actually dolphins? I’ve heard people say we only get pilot whales in the uk?

This definitely looks like something you’d get on a T-shirt in a Florida gift shop though!

  4. Was watching them at Tyninghame beach past weekend. Looked like there was about 10. They brought everyone on the beach to a standstill.

  5. I went on a “dolphin spotting” trip from Inverness once and saw absolutely nothing. Barely even a seabird. But the guide told us about the numbers, and the actual dolphin population of the Moray Firth is really low, so you would have to be quite lucky to see any dolphins on one of those cruises.

  6. Been to dolphin hot spots many times in the north east, never seen a single dolphin. Pretty sure it’s all a scam

  7. Your pictures are brilliant. Thank you for sharing!

  8. Seen them all over the world and the best was easily Oban. About 20 of them playing with our boat for a good 10 minutes. Was absolutely incredible.

  9. A few years ago I was watching Gannets diving into the sea between Speybay and Lossiemouth, then I noticed a number of dolphins circling the same area. Suddenly, the Gannets flew off and this big mouth appeared from underwater, I think it was a Minke whale. after that it was all quiet.

    The best of times!
