A tragic incident occurred in the Austrian province of Styria: an 85-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife were attacked by nine cows while walking to one of the mountain lodges. According to the Mirror publication, the elderly couple from Vienna was walking along a forest path when their dog startled the animals.
“The elderly couple from Vienna and their dog were walking a forest path from Türlwandhütte to an Austrian cabin. Near the lodge, they encountered a herd of cows, among which were three calves. According to witnesses, the couple’s dog frightened the cows,” said police spokesman Markus Reich.
The animals trampled the couple, and they were urgently delivered to the hospital. The man was airlifted to a hospital in Salzburg but unfortunately died after surgery. His wife also sustained serious injuries but managed to survive.
