Apologies for it being a bit last minute, but if anyone is looking for something to do this afternoon, doesnt mind it being mostly outside on what is looking to be a wet day and has an interest in conservation/mammals: the Vincent Wildlife Trust is giving a tour of their new Pine Marten Haven at Wentwood Forest, near Chepstow.
The Vincent Wildlife Trust are key players in conserving threatened UK mammals and they've been working to reintroduce Pine Martens from their hold out in Scotland to suitable areas across the UK. Wales has played a part and the Pine Martens have been spreading from the reintroduction areas.
The Trust have established some habitat and a little visitor centre/hide at Wentwood forest. They're holding an open day today if you'd like to visit, guide talks etc. With loads of people tramping around you're probably not going to actually see a pine marten, but it might be interesting all the same. And if you do want to try seeing one their a chance to have a look around before planning a visit at a quieter time.
