More than 1,000 pieces of Bundeswehr military equipment arrived at the Lithuanian port of Klaipėda to participate in the large-scale Quadriga 2025 exercises. The equipment includes armored vehicles, tank transporters, medical trucks, and other equipment with accompanying personnel. German media confirmed this information, citing the dpa agency.
It is reported that all the equipment was delivered from Rostock across the Baltic Sea in six shipments on two cargo ships. According to a Bundeswehr spokesperson, after arrival the 37th Armored Brigade’s column headed toward Pabradė and other Lithuanian bases.
As part of multinational exercises involving 13 NATO partner countries, the plan is to practice defending the Baltic region under conditions of a hypothetical conflict. More than 8,000 soldiers and officers are taking part, as well as 40 ships, 30 aircraft or helicopters, and more than 1,800 vehicles.
The Quadriga 2025 program envisions training to move forces and capabilities by land, sea, and air to Lithuania. The maneuvers will run in September and partially coincide with the Russian-Belarusian exercises “West-2025”, scheduled to take place in Belarus from September 12 to 16.
Such actions underscore NATO and its allies’ readiness to strengthen cooperation in the Baltic region and demonstrate joint efforts to keep potential threats under control.
Context and Significance of the Exercises for Regional Security
Analysts point to heightened coordination among allies, expanded logistical capabilities, and the development of operational scenarios that enable rapid deployment of forces as needed. These measures underscore the unity of partner countries and their readiness to respond to potential challenges in the Baltic region.
