Swedish being the first and second most popular language on duolingo in Sweden is insane. People must really love Swedish in Sweden!
Spanish in Spain? ¿Qué pasa, tío?
The most studied in most places is English, if the second most studied is the local language that means there are a lot of immigrants trying to integrate.
At least I assume this is the implication here.
Really puts the UK into perspective that so many Irish need to learn to speak Irish.
If Duolingo introduced a Polish course for Ukrainian and Russian speakers then Polish would be second.
It’s just impractical for immigrants to learn Polish when their English usually lags behind their Polish.
In Croatia it is English on 2nd place (and German 1st) cause Duolingo is not available in Croatian so most people use Duolingo in English to learn German.
French???
Always wanted to learn Norwegian and Finnish language, but somehow started learning German and that destroyed my English too, i dont know why I did that now i ended up learning Nepali and kashmiri…
Life is running on hard mode for some reason
Why would you use two shades of orange for the main two answers? That’s piss poor design
Edit: no, they don’t look the same, they look closely related, which German and Spanish are not
Why are some studying their own languages on Duolingo tho??
Everyone’s learning Spanish but nunca can hablar Espanol. Unfartunalmente.

No Portuguese… I wonder why
Spanish in Serbia? #doubt
why 2023? the [2024 data](https://blog.duolingo.com/2024-duolingo-language-report/) is available too
People learn their native language on Duolingo when they dont have time but wants their streaks to continue (I do the same sometimes).
Oof Sweden, Spain, Germany and Austria
German being the second most popular language in Germany ?
I think Spanish is 1. in The Netherlands
Italy italian?
Why is no one talking about the finnish trying to duolingo theor own language?
Hmm how weird, why do we italians study italian in duolingo??? What could this mean?
Why do norwegians and swedes study norwegian and swedish respectively?
I’m really curious what Germans and Austrians think about their second language being German, lol.
As for the rest of the map, starts playing: “Get Spanish – DJVT”
Poles, Lithuanians and Estonians are just really trying to get laid, man…
