Honestly it’s pretty easy to just outsource them to literally any other country. India doesn’t corner the market on those jobs because of some inherent skill, it’s often economics.
Many companies outsource or even insource(!!) These jobs to the uk because the software engineering market is so flooded there the wages stay low. Now if they start blocking immigration in the uk from countries with strong software engineer expats.. but the point is that many of these jobs are being cut by ai and the ones left.. companies will chase the lowest possible wage in any country. For tech support, they’ll go to Egypt. For engineering they’ll go uk then maybe Saudi or somewhere else.
I’m not a trump fan but I work in an industry where it’s common to outsource-shop. I contract in Mexico. Many of my colleagues contract in the Philippines or Africa now. We aren’t tech, exactly, but I was in my previous job
After him there will be nothing to outsource.
He will only stop when he has wrecked everything.
Sounds to me that Trump and his gaggle of goons think they need some extra donations to the “re-election fund” to have this whole mess go away. They’re just floating this out there to see how much they can distract the base with it and to gauge how much more they could get from the Techies that are now firmly under his thumb.
That’s the thing about capitulating and glazing Trump like a Krispy Kreme Original at 6 AM. Once you’ve bent the knee it’s easier for him to keep coming back around asking for more because you’re already his bitch.
This will just cause more price inflation but the magacult licks his ass all day long.
And Trump are a crypto billionaire so his family will not notice the prices going up.
A lot of people are hurting and point fingers at offshoring.
This is just a populist promise to gain support from such people.
It either won’t happen or will happen “on the paper”, so they can brag about supporting Americans.
This claim is about as real as his promise to stop the Russia v Ukraine war, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict on day 1 of his presidency. Also about as real as bringing grocery prices down, the national debt down, cost of healthcare down. He accomplished NONE of his promises. He keeps touting deportations, but he didn’t even match Obama in total deportations despite using more cruel and illegal measures. The guy is a fat, flaccid, failure propped up by memes pushed to any dummy who is willing to believe.
Pretty likely, the government already prevents contracting jobs from outsourcing.
And with the amount of computer science majors looking for a job they’re more likely to take less pay and get these jobs.
I’ll be pretty honest, I’m a firm believer that outsourcing to ANY country for cheap labor in tech is what’s been keeping us from true innovation

I doubt it’s legal to flat-out block it. The real idea they’re floating (see HIRE Act) is imposing a tariff on services of 25%. Outsourcing will still be cheaper for some jobs at that rate but higher paying STEM jobs would benefit to keep in the US

Blocking India or outsourcing altogether?, first would just lead to it going to Phillipines or relatively skilled country before it goes back to the US.
He’s looking for choke points to keep India in line but that ship has sailed. Soon all of Asia will be a bloc that is anti-American. The tariffs because of their oil deal with Russia will tip them into China’s sphere of influence
