Government sanctions 6.2 acres for Quantum City at Hesarghatta in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The state govt Saturday sanctioned 6.2 acres at Hesarghatta for the development of Q-City (Quantum City), aimed at positioning Bengaluru as a global quantum technology hub, science and technology minister NS Boseraju said Sunday.The proposed site will host advanced laboratories, start-up incubation centres, and infrastructure to promote collaboration between academia and industry. The initiative is part of the state’s ambition to build a $20 billion quantum economy by 2035 through strategic investments in quantum computing.The land allocation follows commitments made during India’s first Quantum India Bengaluru Conclave. “This is a historic milestone for Karnataka. The Quantum City at Hesarghatta will attract global talent and investments, and will help Bengaluru emerge as a key centre on both India’s and the world’s quantum map,” said the minister.Q-City is expected to feature state-of-the-art facilities, integrating academic institutions, innovation hubs, quantum hardware production units, and research and development centres working with quantum high-performance computing data centres. These efforts aim to boost the state’s role in advanced science and innovation.In addition, the govt approved eight acres for the expansion of the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS–TIFR), to support its academic and research activities.
