    Has nobody informed him it’s Read Only Friday? I explicitly state that on friday I’m stopping on the clock and not even answering my phone for stuff that went wrong if they ignore my advice to not touch production stuff on a friday.

    I can see where he’s coming from in the sense that less people will be affected today if it goes wrong, but it also means there’s less support for you if you can’t figure it out. If it’s running third party software or supporting third party appliances/machinery did you check whether that supplier is even available today? Half our own contacts are closed today.

  6. Brugdag? Just another workday here, Kid of a colleague tested positive so now she is in quarantine. Wich leaves us with 3 to do the work of 8.

    I have a blistering headache so add that to the miseriemix. And our Senseo at work is so clogged up that every cup of coffee is the size of an expresso. Even the double onces.

  13. Got the GTA Definitive collection yesterday. My old disk versions don’t work, so decided to take “the risk”.

    It is what it is: a remaster. Only played a few missions and sidemissions in VC so far, but it’s all what it promised tbf: same game, different graphics. I like it, haven’t seen any fucked up models so far, but I haven’t met any of the bad characters that were posted online yet either. Reddit hive mind seemed to expect a GTA V experience which was never promised.

    Only POS is the Rockstar launcher. It’s terrible: slow, refuses to close, barebones.

  16. I just confirmed that I will be working for the federal government as a business analyst! Very decent wage, interesting wage and a lot of hollidays. I’ll start in the beginning of January. I am soo happy that I can leave my current job as atmosphere was very bad already a couple of weeks. Going to give my 6 weeks notice today. I kinda already talked this through with my boss and I just have to do 2 weeks and can sit the rest of my notice period at home. God I am happy, tonight I am going to open myself a bottle of quality wine.

  17. I can’t help but be slightly terrified of the situation in Eastern Europe and its possible consequences. It’s such a historical no-win situation that I can’t decide which way to handle it is less worse. Don’t want gas prices to skyrocket even more and I don’t want to witness thousands perish as pawns in a geopolitical power tug between wealthy crooks either.

    Fite me but I really wish we had a European politician with the guts to declare ‘Wir schaffen das’.

  18. I am stuck between a rock and a hard place. I started working full time recently after finishing my bachelor’s. Now I am doing my job but it seems like I am capable of doing more than this.

    I would like to try to go for a master’s but they’ve spend all this time training me and I feel like it would be an enormous backstab from my side.

    Been thinking about asking whether working part time and studying at the same time is possible. but I don’t think they’ll grant it to a starter like me.

    Really not sure what I have to do…

  19. Went to the lightfestival yesterday, it was very pretty but hoo boy the crowds. Also a significant amount of people was not wearing masks and going against the flow of people. The worst though was the Coydaenspark where there was no obvious way out and it looked like a massive crush was about to happen.

    I’m having to deal with a social media content manager (He builds WordPress websites with the same theme for all his clients…) who does not seem to comprehend why we are not willing to provide FTP access to our data storage cluster. Right now he’s making a case on why shared hosting with GoDaddy would be better for us… Just give me the god damn files and I’ll handle it.

  21. I got bitten by a spider I found in my sink yesterday ; normally I like spiders, but that one looked dangerous. I got confirmed by the hospital (I brought it there, dead, in a box) that it is a male [Redback Spider](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Redback_spider), normally native to Australia.

    This thing still hurts today, and I’m feeling sick. Apparently normal, they said. But one bite shouldn’t be any life threatening concern.

    Who imported that monstrosity here, and how did it survive all the way into my apartment?

  24. Bpost is now adding a map with a bpost van marker near your house to their tracking system. The marker is stale and doesn’t move. It’s located 2 or 3 streets from your house. Probably a test to see if they have more delivered packages from people that thought: he’s only three streets away, I’ll wait for it? If there’s one thing I’ll have to give DPD it’s their real-time tracking they’ve been using for at least 2 years now.
