Driving to the local shop this morning and found a lady driving very very slowly gesticulating to the front of her car. She was following an escaped robot lawnmower down the middle of the road.

I stopped and rescued it. Took it home and notified the local constabulary and the village Facebook page. Videos of Mr Choppy's bid for freedom were posted by people who had seen him. Jokes and memes and demands for an update.

Mr Choppy's elderly owners were located and were very amused when I showed them that he was the talk of the village and had bought joy to us all. I of course had to inform them that their wayward son now had a police record as part of his adventure.

Later in the day they dropped me off a Dundee cake purchased from the village fair as a thank you.

What a Sunday.

  1. That’s all well and good but….

Any luck catching them swans yet?

  2. What a grass.

It made its bid for freedom and you returned the poor thing.

  3. You sure this isn’t a banking or telecoms advert? Something about breaking free?

  4. “Robbie is unable to find docking station, searching for alternatives.”

  5. You could almost say the lawnmower was headed for…greener pastures?

(That was a pune, or play on words)

  6. Tell you what, it’s done a damn good job on that bit of ground!

  7. My dentist had this happen to the robot hoover of his practice just a few weeks ago. Exited through the front door when a patient left it open and just drove down the street.

  8. I wonder what the range is on things like this (roomba in my case) for scanning a room, it scanned our house perfectly fine but what about a warehouse or even a large open space

  9. Now he’ll never know if the grass is greener on the other side!

  10. I hope they took Mr. Choppy to the fair, he’d wear himself out with all that grass!

  11. We could all take a lesson from this little dude. Life isn’t about just working.

  12. Well done for repatriating Mr Choppy.

Now can you please try to find Higgins?

  13. There’s a voice that keeps on calling me

Down the road, that’s where I’ll always be

Every stop I make, I make a new friend

Can’t stay for long, just turn around
    And I’m gone again

Maybe tomorrow, I’ll want to settle down
Until tomorrow, I’ll just keep moving on

  14. The littlest mower

    🎶maybe tomorrow I wanna settle down…

  15. Ah, the littlest robo.

    🎵 Maybe tomorrow….🎵

  16. They see me rollin’
