So the article is saying Hamas hasn’t claimed responsibility? If I’m reading it correctly.
> Israeli police said two attackers arrived by car and opened fire at a bus stop at Ramot Junction. They said a security officer and a civilian shot and killed the assailants.
Okay, at least the shooters were stopped before further tragedy. It sounds like it doesn’t have any specific motive, unless someone knows something about this bus stop that isn’t obvious?
> The Israeli military said it had deployed soldiers to the area and were aiding police in the search for suspects.
So, the police say that the assailants have been killed, but the military has been brought in looking for suspects? Is ‘looking for suspects’ just code for ‘we plan on rounding up any stray Palestinians now that there’s a reason to imprison them’?
> Soldiers were also operating in areas of Ramallah in the Israeli-occupied West Bank to conduct interrogations and “thwart terrorism” [The Israeli military] said.
Are the writers trying to imply that this shooting at a city bus stop is connected to Israel’s occupation of West Bank?
It’s been nearly 80 years since the Nakba. Surreal to think Israel has visited something even more horrifying than that upon Palestinian people, every single day, for almost 2 years now.
We’d be fools to not imagine more attacks will happen in places like Jerusalem so long as Israel’s violent occupation continues, and continues dealing shocking crimes upon humanity. It’s sad to think we ought to steel ourselves for more to come. But it seems Netanyahu has made his peace with it.
It’s in my hometown… days like these are always awful, it creates fear that you cannot escape.
Politicians will do their number on it… but while the right wing is claiming the problem is that we’re too soft with them, like how the supreme court ruled that they shouldn’t be starved at jail.
The truth is, there were 2 years with a different government in the last 17 years in Israel. There was a “leftist” police minister, he managed to reduce crime and terror with reforms. Ben Gvir cancelled all of these reforms and starve the PA, allowed settlers violence. And will use this as an excuse to only escalate things further, which again won’t solve things. It’s not about security or reducing terror, it’s about control and domination for him. And it’s always a question for me weather he’s evil and knows his actions will make things worse, or just evil dumb and truly believe it will reduce it
Nothing scream “defense” than attacking random civilians.
I mean are they scared because settlers would have shot back?
Literally that’s why people in Europe don’t support Palestinians because this is really hard to defend shit like that and not look like a moron especially in France which had hundreds of people die to this kind of attacks semi recently
This cycle needs to end. Period.
Get people like Yuval Abraham and Basel Adra into power.
Ben Gurion knew from the beginning that Israel was the aggressor and the outsider that was seen to want to take the country away from the Palestinians. Israel should have been bending over backwards to right past injustices and create a just peace. Instead, the country seems incapable of even acknowledging history let alone try for reconciliation without ‘gaming’ it.
Conversely, and when the time is right, I personally think the Palestinians have to come to terms with the fact that Israel is where it is, as wrong and unjust as that is. This is the only pragmatic solution. This can’t go on for another 3 generations.
There aren’t any adults in the room now, especially on the Israeli side. This conflict needs international intervention and sane people in power.
Context:
* This happened on September 8, 2025 at the entrance to the Ramot neighborhood
* Two gunmen opened fire on a Line 62 bus and people waiting at the Ramot junction bus stop in Jerusalem.
* Six killed and 21 injured; victims were rushed to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah hospitals.
* The two attackers were neutralized by an IDF soldier and armed civilians at the scene.
* The Ramot Junction is in Ramot, which is in northern part of Jerusalem. Which Israel considers as part of their Jerusalem municipality.
* However, Ramot itself is a neighborhood built beyond the 1967 Green Line, which is land that Israel took after the Six-Day War. Which many in the international community view as part of the Occupied West Bank as it is beyond 1949 Green Line.
You either embrace a culture of endless tit-for-tat barbarism and end of civility. Or equally condemn the daily large-scale massacres committed by the IDF, as well as such awful reprisals from the other side every other blue moon. I’m all for the latter.
But please spare us the selective outrage, when your side is literally committing genocide, that’s fine, when the other side responds with relatively-speaking insignificant attacks, it’s the end of the world.
To people calling this justified just remember this will not help the Palestinians. Rather this will further bring support to Netanyahus policies. Israel is here to stay but this incident will not help Palestine to exist.
“ The attack targeted a location in a part of Jerusalem that Israel captured in the 1967 war and later annexed in a move not recognized by the United Nations and many individual countries.”
What is Israel doing occupying land that isn’t theirs? Maybe if they want to stop people shooting at them they should go back to their side of the border.
