  1. Turkey is escalating tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean by pushing its 2019 maritime pact with Libya, which grants it gas and oil exploration rights deep into waters claimed by Greece and Cyprus.

Ankara is now courting both rival Libyan authorities to secure recognition of the deal, using military, diplomatic, and economic incentives.

This move is part of Turkey’s broader “Blue Homeland” doctrine, which seeks to rewrite maritime borders in the region.

Erdogan is also expanding influence in Syria, Somalia, and North Africa, building military bases, deploying drones and missiles, and showcasing new long-range weapons that can target regional rivals.

For Greece, Cyprus, and Israel, Turkey’s actions represent not just maritime disputes but an attempt to dominate the Mediterranean and reshape regional power.

With the EU and US largely distracted, Ankara is exploiting the vacuum, raising the risk of direct confrontation between NATO allies and broader instability.
