So a French prime minister actually survives for once?
Or they voted against him staying?
Wording on this is always confusing.
He got cooked, just like his predecessors.
So…how many years do you think you still have before you go full retard and elect Le Pen to completely drive your country into the ground?
Really liked visiting you, would like to understand how much time I have to go back…..
He staged all of this for his own gain. This is ridiculous. Politicians care more about their own career than the mission they were chosen for.
So what does this mean? French government has fallen?
No matter how many governments you vote out, the debt wont go away.
Somehow I feel that any govt which will try to reduce budget deficit and debt by applying pension reforms or raising taxes will be brought down. But this is the only right thing to do if debt needs to be reduced.
Job of govt is very complex. People don’t care about future , they care about present.
Surprisingly narrow, ngl (was expecting an 80/20 split)
The French government is a mess at this point when you have it divided in 3 (left wing/far – center – right wing/far).
It’s almost impossible to make a majority without compromises
At this point Macron can cycle through to another party for Prime Minister, have them fail in a few months since no party finds any other party acceptable, and then move on to the next one and hit every party in time for the next election.
France is so fucked. Huge long running deficit and a populists on both sides that wants to turn up spending even more.
Could Macron like call new elections?
So how does France plan to solve the fiscal health issue?
Al Jazeera said “The paralysis is reminiscent of the instability last observed in 1958 when the Fifth Republic was established.”
Not an expert, but that seems unlikely. Wasn’t their military in revolt at the time? A bit more consequential than a fairly mundane “what are we going to do” moment when they’re aren’t any real crises or any very compelling candidates with ideas.
But my mind is open, let me know if I’m wrong…
Maybe the French should start leasing a PM instead of appointing one. One year lease, with an option to change to another from inventory.
Mondays, am I right?
Bye Bye Bayrou .
Interesting to see the point of view of others so focused on debt. You’re missing the wider point, which is that the “Macronie” caused the debt fire and now shows up as the firefighter. Debt burden has been amplified by Macron like never before. Political action is not possible without some trust, and it’s been gone a long time ago.
And let’s remind ourselves than when picking Bayrou, he picked one of the most digusting succubus in the french political landscape, disliked by everyone. The type of politician Macron wanted to get rid of when he could still play the new and young guy card. F them all really.
We need to be able to do this in the US……
So, let’s see if Macron tries for a third time what failed miserably twice before …
If no goverment introduced a tax for the super rich, there will never be acceptance or support for one of the goverments.
Hopefully the new one will be against chat control.
