And yet democracy has been managing for many decades.
>She drew an analogy between digital encryption and a locked door during a physical police search.
>“When we have a search warrant and we are in front of a house and the door is locked, and you know that the criminal is inside of the house, the population will not accept that you cannot enter.”
She wants to be able to enter anyone’s house, at any time, with no warrant though.
Are you sure about that?
No it doesn’t. You would just like to be able to violate our privacy without a court order. “It’s for your own safety” the oldest scaremongering tactics governments have been using for at least decades now.
So, what will happen when an anti-democratic party comes to power?
The worst of both worlds lol. Autocracy like China, but without the benefit of safety like their cities.
Ah yes.
“In the name of fighting pedocriminality, we need to access everything you see, type, and read. Think of the children! PS – does not apply to government officials, they’re trustworthy”
“Enforce democracy” – love it 😀
Edit: It just dawned on me this phrase sounds straight out of “Peacemaker”. You really cannot make this sh*t up…
She needs to dial it the fuck down. Nothing democratic about this.
Focus on TAXING said tech giants to start with before interfering with everyone and opening pandora’s box for the next dictator to exploit.
“You won’t be able to subvert democracy without”
How about we democratically enforce these guys out of office in the next elections? 😛
No thank you, my messages are my privacy. What do they want to read about, the shopping lists my wife sends me?
No it isn’t letters and telecommunications can’t be opened in the Netherlands according our constitution, it’s called briefgeheim and was implemented in the constitution in 1848.
Her and her politicians cronies messages first.
What a great moment in time to be pushing through a highly unpopular policy.
So that’ll be a no to proper immigration controls, a no to sufficient action on climate change and yes to being able to read peoples private messages.
If you really want to fight crime, legalise drugs.
So democracy needs mass surveillance? Do these people listen to themselves?
I for one will go out of my way to communicate with pidgeons from now on if this bs passes. Sue me.
So this fuck is responsible for chat control coming up again and again?
You will be democratized. Please do not resist.
“en… Enforce democracy”
Lifts eyebrows
To save democracy we must destroy democracy
“Enforce democracy”? Democracy isn’t something you impose on people, it’s something they choose and participate in. You don’t enforce democracy, you enable it by protecting rights and privacy. Strip that away, and what’s left isn’t democracy at all. Please get rid of this chief, she isn’t for democracy, she’s for autocracy.
Furthermore, her example about why people shouldn’t expect anonymity is deeply flawed:
*”When we have a search warrant and we are in front of a house and the door is locked, and you know that the criminal is inside of the house, the population will not accept that you cannot enter.”*
Which is very true, but that analogy actually supports the opposite point. Yes, you can break into the house, but only **after** obtaining a search warrant. And crucially, the door is still **locked** you don’t magically get a universal key. You still have to **physically break it down**.
The same applies to encryption. Even with legal authority, if a phone is encrypted, law enforcement doesn’t get a master key to unlock it, they still have to **break** the encryption.

A police? Advocating for a police state?!
Shocker!!
Is she crazy?!?

Is she comparing the unlocking of encryption to having houses without door locking? Does she expect population to be OK with leaving their houses, their personal life, unlocked and open to anyone and to her?
I’m astonished
Stasi 2.0… why wont she give her unlocked phone to us?
