Russia carried out an airstrike on the village of Yarova in Donetsk region, hitting civilians gathered to receive pension payments. According to preliminary information, more than 20 people were killed.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the strike in his Telegram channel on September 9. “Russians hit the village of Yarova in Donetsk region with an air bomb, at the place where people were receiving pensions. According to preliminary information, more than 20 people were killed,” he said.

The President emphasized that the attack underscores the need for stronger international measures against Russia.

“Such strikes by Russia must not go unanswered. The world cannot remain silent. A reaction from the United States, from Europe, from the Group of Twenty is needed. Strong actions are required so that Russia stops bringing death,” Zelenskyy stated.

According to Ukrainian officials, Russia has increasingly used guided aerial bombs against civilian areas in frontline regions.

These strikes have hit residential neighborhoods, administrative buildings, and humanitarian aid distribution points, causing extensive casualties and destruction.

Editor’s note: This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.

Earlier in September, Russia launched its largest aerial attack of the war, firing more than 800 drones and missiles against Kyiv, Odesa, Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk. According to Ukraine’s Interior Ministry, the strike killed at least three people in the capital, including a woman and her two-month-old child, and injured more than 20.

For the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion, the Cabinet of Ministers building in central Kyiv was directly hit, causing fires on its upper floors, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko confirmed.
