I’m surprised they even found someone, given the current state of the party. There is a very good chance, they’ll face a terrible election. They’re essentially scapegoats.
It will be interesting to see if the new Groen will become more assertive in the government than previously.
You can dislike Almaci (and I sure do) but she meddled or at least seemed to meddle a lot less in the affairs of government then Magnette, Lachaert and Rousseau did. Which probably decreased Groen’s visibility in government but worked well for the internal cohesion of Vivaldi, which was not great to begin with.
If Groen also becomes more assertive, there is probably zero room for a “big” agreement on purchasing power, pensions, climate and what else is still on the table.
They finally found 2 people who want to be responsible when they hit the kiesdrempel.
I’m struggling coming up with a hot take for this development. It’s fine, like unsalted spinach.
Always happy to see unknowns break through and try to make a name for themselves though. Should definitely be applauded.
I think they need people with a pro-nuclear energy stance.
When none of your actual politicians want to take the role because they don’t want to be in charge in 2024.
