Had to travel between Waterloo and Fenchurch St today. Obviously without the tube today so decided to walk. Got a bit lost and found myself in St Dunstan in the East Church Gardens. What a beautiful hidden spot in the middle of the city. I’ve been living in London for almost 20yrs and it still has surprises.
(Apologies for the crap pictures, I’m not much of a photographer)

It’s on the 50 best spots in the UK listing…
You got really lucky to see it empty like that! These days it’s often got a not of people taking Instagram pics (which, good for them, but it’s not super peaceful ha ha)
The last of us vibes
Maybe I’m just cynical and jaded but I never got why this spot is always rated so highly.
I stumbled upon that place when I was out running one day a few months back. Really liked it, felt like all of a sudden I was in some little village in the countryside somewhere. It’s next to Stepney farm too which is also good
No matter what time I go, there’s always a wedding or fashion shoot happening here. There’s also no way they get permission to do so, despite the signs saying it’s required. Still it’s a lovely spot when quiet.

for a second I thought this was a screenshot from Fallout 4
Is this the same church that got damaged in the great fire of London and then also got bombed during WW2?
It’s a really nice spot to sit and eat a takeaway lunch. Tourists don’t usually know it’s there, despite its proximity to the Tower, so it’s quieter than many of the outdoor places with seating.
I used to go and sit here for a while if I was hungover at work
I went there 3-4 times for photo shoots, back when I modelled :’) Goths love this place
