*The UK Government must now work with industry to design a new, modern and innovative border system which brings genuine benefits to businesses and consumers*
Shouldn’t we have done that BEFORE LEAVING?
….. That £350m a week is what they’re going to be charging the public for agreeing to leave the EU.
Shitshow
We want to take back control…
…but we have a government that doesn’t like governing, including doing things like hiring people to work at HMRC.
Ended his quote on saying why the delay was needed by saying “great benefits to free trade”. I think 48% tried to tell you that
This does not make sense in the long run because non EU nations who already face import checks will be wanting the same treatment.
“Thanks to Brexit Britain now has the chance to create its own controls on its borders. But we’re not going to do so as it costs too much money.”
Looks like the minister for BO has some work to do.
Surely this must be Project Fear? The only valid criticism of the imaginary Project is that the warnings were not dire enough.
Looking forward to one of our other trading partners opening a case against us at the WTO for breaching Most Favoured Nation criteria.
On all the other brexit threads showing where brexit is worsening our already poor situation, I have so far seen excuses from brexiteers along the lines of:
* It’s bs
* It’s global inflation and we are doing better
* it’s the war situation
* it’s the biden administrations fault (honestly, yes someone said that)
Here we have, straight from the brexit arch-draculas mouth: spending on the controls required at our borders right now would compound an already bad situation for our country.
That must really sting, how can they argue with that? – I am sure they will, I am sure there’s spin on facebook that will be regurgitated.
So to sum up in easy terms – doing brexxity things has a negative effect on the country. JRM has delayed (again) the brexit checks spend because, right now, it adds to the already hard impact of issues outside of the UK’s control, compounding global supply, inflation and war issues – if those things did not exist right now, this STILL means this brexxity thing is a negative effect – in simple terms, it’s like being shot four times, they all bloody hurt and you don’t want them to happen.
Another win for Brexit! Every day it’s like Christmas for Brexit-voters who wake up knowing more money is being lost on absolutely fuck all with no benefit to anyone.
We really are racking up quite a large bill over this temper tantrum of not being allowed to be quite a shitty to brown and/or poor people as some of us would like, aren’t we?
How much longer are we going g to have to put up with this farce?
I wish all the terrible things the universe has to offer on that man.
UK borders are what protect you as a consumer, as well as maintain that taxes are applied to goods coming into the country. ATM we have no controls on anything, so you can guarantee we are getting all the reject shit from the EU in our goods. You can also guarantee taxes are being dodged left, right and centre. Drugs being shipped into the UK have free reign right now as no one is checking imports.
The biggest issue of all though is that UK exporters have to apply red tape of taking goods into the EU, while EU exporters into the UK have none. This puts our businesses at a massive disadvantage to EU businesses. Tories are not just selling the country short; they openly handing our country to anyone who wants to take the piss out of us.
Does this mean it’s a really good time to smuggle drugs?
It’s a shame that nobody warned them about this multiple times. “We’ll just use technology that doesn’t exist to magically guess what’s inside the trucks” was the official government response.
I’m Scottish and want independence but It’s not because I’m some mental jock with a chip on my shoulder, I can’t stomach this shite anymore!
Everything Tory costs billions. Each and every sunny upland of brexit will cost a billion.
But this was all thought out long ago with carefully made plans in place? What a diabolical shit heap of a government.
