And they won’t get any cheaper if the NIMBY crowd keep making a fuss over every solar farm and wind turbine.
I’d like to see energy bills as a % of median household income.
Because however much were feeling it it must be ROUGH on Italy and Chechia.
Just got an email from Energia today saying prices are going up on 9th October
and energia jumping theirs up about 10% next month
And Irish people do nothing about that
This seems wrong, the source is [https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Ireland/](https://www.globalpetrolprices.com/Ireland/) which lists the price for Ireland at 0.383eur per KWh. Prices at Electric Ireland including VAT never once reached that high and are currently around 0.2382eur per KWh.
That also does not take into account the government electricity credits we got, which you probably should factor in for comparison considering other countries like the UK implemented price caps instead of credits.
I don’t know what street they are getting their electricity on but it’s not the same street I get mine.
I literally just got an email from energia saying electricity is going up 10.9% from October
Ha! I wouldn’t know, I am constantly in credit! Thank you solar panels, one of the best home improvement decisions I’ve made.
What’s Italy doing up there amongst the Tax Havens?
I got an email from Energia saying their rates are going up seconds before reading this post : (
$0.45 is €0.38
Am i reading this right? Who’s paying that much?
Im paying €0.22 a unit with Electric Ireland and even less at night. This data doesn’t look right.
Just got my electric Ireland bill today – 350 for the summer months and so far my bills this year are 700 more than last year and there’s 2 more billing cycles left this year that said there’s an extra person in the house since then but I usually kept them to below 250-300 at their max in winter – currently awaiting a calls back from solar installers. It’s a bit late now thst the sun is gone. But I’d rather be doing something about the prob than getting these bills going forward 😂
Its because we are cross subsidising the AI datacentres who were left in on the tax free ticket by IDA
To the surprise of absolutely no one.
and literally just got an email from Energia saying the prices are going up… Great!
18% of the electricity used is by Datacentres, whose companies pay no tax.
ah thats just ragebait nonsense. Its implying a per unit rate of 38c per kwh. Unless you are not shopping around you are more likely paying 25c per kwh. Even if you aren’t shopping around its more likely 34c
I’m coming off a fixed rate with SSE, and they’re offering a new 20% discount rates if I renew with them. It’s just the new 20% is still almost 33% more expensive than I pay now.
Its absolutely shocking.
Second highest prices and we still leave everything plugged in 24/7. Not a bother to us 😂
MORE DATACENTERS
Ten Rolls Royce SMR’s could power the entirety of Ireland with capacity to spare. It’d cost about €30b to build them, once built they’d substantially lower the cost of Electricity while being carbon neutral. A smart government would invest in Rolls Royce before putting in the order.
Maybe we instead of handing money via public bodies to employ nimby twats, we could spend are wages on things that can actually bring prices down?
(also maybe slow down with the data centers)
Where is the guy with his Excel that only counts cost per unit and not any standing charges to tell us that our supply is cheap?
How’s this look versus average salary?
The *second* highest electricity prices…. the **second** highest electricity prices… Ireland had the *second* highest electricity prices….
europe need to do sometigh about it, this is really bad both for people and business
We object to wind farms, we object to to wave farms, we object to solar energy farms, we object to LFG, we most certainly object to nuclear. The only thing we accept is buying gas from the interconnector with the Brits at twice the price.
1 nuclear power plant, energy for generations. Won’t rely on energy from abroad.
Sounds like the energy companies can do better and take too stop…
We should sending this to all our Tds [either in emails or on their social media] demanding justification for these constant increases. And when does it finally end.
Just got a letter from my electric company here in the North and they are raising their prices in October by 4% or .11p a day 🤬

It certainly felt like it!
All thanks to FFG!
