  1. > Cruise’s advice is helping Powell navigate these rockier parts of movie stardom. As Powell explained “[Tom] basically said, ‘Hey, it’s going to get really, really loud. It’s your job to just turn the volume down. Just remember you have your hand on that switch. You have your hand on the ability to turn up that noise or turn it down.’ And really just turning down the noise and trusting your own gut has been a real godsend for me.”

    > Powell and Paris’ relationship ended in April 2023 amid viral romance rumors between Powell and Sweeney. The two actors later confirmed to The New York Times there was never a romance between them but they leaned into the fake rumors in order to boost the publicity for “Anyone But You,” a strategy that worked as the movie was a box office sleeper hit with $220 million worldwide.

  2. Tom Cruise, known creep, giving advice

    Yeah, that’ll help him

  3. Or, I dunno, maybe listen to your (ex)gf and dont do cheap publicity stunts like that?!

  4. Well Tom Cruise is a piece of shit I’m sure it’s easy for him to disregard criticism. Good on Glen Powell from asking the master

  5. Media is crapping on Sydney lately, so they want to retool an old media story to make it sound like Glen achieved a win in marketing.

  6. This is one actor that Hollywood is really trying to push on the world

  7. Listen to Tom, he’s been presenting as someone he isn’t for the longest time and the box office is clearly rewarding him

  8. Or maybe just all this stupid para social marketing is fucking stupid

  9. You relied on someone who famously abandoned his own daughter and whose wife had to hatch a Mission Impossible-level escape plan to leave him and his shady cult? That guy? THAT GUY? Oh, the internet never fails to shock me at times hahahahaha.

  10. Imagine taking relationship or PR advice from Tom Cruise, lol.

  11. If I was Glen I would stay away from Tom Cruise the Scientologist and Sydney “I sell my own bathwater online, have great Jeans, criticize women who insult me for pandering to men and am likely hardcore MAGA” Sweeney

  12. Powell fw scientology. Wouldn’t be surprised.

  13. This is a really convoluted headline. Like, really bad.

  14. “Tom Cruise’s advice for Glen Powell on Stardom amidst romance rumor: ‘you can turn down the volume”.

  15. I mean, once the movie came out, we all knew the rumors had no merit anyway

  16. Tom Cruise telling someone it’s ok to act like a POS. Not surprised at all

  17. I’m not a Tom Cruise apologist, but I guess I interpreted this differently than most. If you read the short snippet (“turn the volume down”) you could think he meant tune out the haters. But the longer quote, “It’s your job to just turn the volume down. Just remember you have your hand on that switch. You have your hand on the ability to turn up that noise or turn it down” reads to me like TC is saying don’t feed the beast. Like you can control the amount of noise about you so don’t lean into it. TC is famously quiet and is pretty invisible when not doing press. I think he learned his lesson the couch-jumping way.

  18. Should anybody be taking *relationship* advice from Tom Cruise 🥴

  19. Seems kind of disjointed. The headline made it seem like he was getting advice about the implications of said fake romance.

  20. Oh wow just like with Ryan Reynolds’s actor jail fluff piece that just went around

  21. What a horrible f****** human being, what a complete piece of trash this guy is

  22. Relationship advice from a 3 times divorced guy who abandoned his own child…okay….

  23. Couldn’t even finish Anyone But You which is very rare for me. I almost never turn movies off.

  24. Sounds like he’ll risk it all to become rich and famous. Valid reason to end it but he’ll also have no problem finding someone that’ll play along with that.

  25. Still sounds like a “Dick Move” on his part. Sorry but you’re either in a relationship with someone 100% or you’re not. It’s like being pregnant, you can’t be “Kinda Pregnant” she is either your girlfriend, fiancé, etc… or she’s not.

  26. To me that is shitty. I’m not at all surprised Tom Cruise would give that advice – it’s pretty clear his movies are his priority above all else.

Sounds like an awful person to me but everyone is different I suppose.
