‘A colossal train wreck’: U.S. energy chief slams odds of net zero by 2050

1. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has lambasted plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050, calling the climate target “a colossal train wreck” that countries will most likely fail to achieve.

   His comments, which were first published as part of an interview with the [Financial Times](https://www.ft.com/content/22f9fa8c-4641-4d7f-ac3b-5c16cbac5128) on Monday, come as Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum prepare to travel to Milan, Italy, for the Gastech energy conference.

   “Net zero 2050 is just a colossal train wreck … It’s just a monstrous human impoverishment program and of course there is no way it is going to happen,” Wright [said](https://x.com/ENERGY/status/1965114681451778373) in remarks shared by the U.S. Department of Energy on social media platform X.

   Net zero refers to the goal of achieving a state of balance between the carbon emitted into the atmosphere and the carbon removed from it.

2. Because of traitors like this champ here, we will not have advanced civilization in 2050. We need to fight these traitors instead of allowing them to move their lips.

5. I think the western world needs a new leader. At this point The US is a pendulum somehow swinging farther right with each swing. People can’t expect a Democrat to push us in the right direction long enough to be taken seriously again.

   Meanwhile, China is investing increasingly huge amounts into renewables, their grid, and infrastructure. It’s infuriating watching the rest of my country go down kicking and screaming over old tech and pollution. The West deserves a better leader than we can be, and definitely needs to be a true competitor to China in the race for technological advancement

6. I mean ya, destroying renewables to invest taxpayer dollars in oil is going to do that.

   Can these journalists at least put ‘compromised’ energy chief? Or ‘unqualified’ energy chief? ‘Pay to play’ energy chief? Or anything??

   I’m tired of seeing these agencies’ names and the nature of their recommendations’ destroyed because of the sociopathic billionaire club staffing of all of our institutions.

   But then, they own all of the media, so the co-sign is by design.

7. The guy will not be alive in 2050, he doesn’t care. Most of Trumps buddies won’t be alive in 2050 either, 2040 isn’t really possible. They don’t care.
