Queen Mary has flown the flag for Australian fashion yet again during a busy day of engagements in Copenhagen.

And if the Zimmermann blouse looks familiar, that’s because it was worn just a few months ago by her youngest daughter.

The Tasmanian-born royal had two events on her agenda on Tuesday and in between she made a quick, but clever, outfit swap to ensure she was suitably dressed for each.

The 53-year-old began her day with a visit to the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Copenhagen.

She was there at the invitation of Queen Mary’s Centre at the university, which opened in February 2022 in celebration of her 50th birthday.

During her time at the centre on Tuesday, the Queen met with researchers and students who are directly involved in research-informed welfare innovation across various sectors of society.

Officially baptised as ‘Svitzer Ingrid’ the vessel is Denmark’s first electric tugboat and has a battery equivalent to 23 modern electric cars.

Its name, Ingrid, comes from King Frederik’s beloved grandmother, the late Queen Ingrid. Queen Mary now wears Queen Ingrid’s ruby and diamond parure and the set has become one of her most-worn.

On the way to that engagement at the harbourside, Queen Mary made a very slight change to her outfit.

She had swapped her black heels for a more appropriate pair of Chanel flats, allowing her to board the tugboat after the naming ceremony.

Tomorrow the King and Queen will host a reception that will officially close the 2025 sailing season, held on board the royal yacht Dannebrog following their recent tour of Denmark’s northern regions.

They were last seen together on Friday when the country paused to remember Denmark’s war heroes on Flag Day.

Flag Day – held each year on September 5 – recognises those Danes serving their country abroad, whether that be in wartime or peace, and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

King Frederik and Queen Mary took part in the solemn commemorations by laying a wreath at the memorial, Kastellet, before attending a service at the nearby Holmen Church.
