    Tuesday’s special election was set to fill the seat of U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly, who died of esophageal cancer in May. The outspoken Democrat had sought key reforms in the federal government and was vocal about President Donald Trump’s culling of the federal workforce, which uniquely impacted his district filled with workers.

    Ahead of the election, Walkinshaw vowed to fight attacks made by the White House, particularly against federal workers.

  7. 8 point overperformance from November at 75% of the vote counted (and turnout north of 100k). On that basis, and the way the governors race has gone, Abigail Spanberger is going to do some absolutely funny numbers in the DC suburbs in November.

  8. At 95% reported it’s Walkinshaw by a 50 point blowout, slapping Whitson around like he owes him money.

    Harris won this district by 30-ish points a year ago.

  10. Republican vote dropped from 33% to 25%. Northern Virginia not happy with all the attacks on the federal workforce.
