3 cars have driven through the front of the store in the last week, the store itself faces out onto a busy road but there is no obvious way someone could come head on to the store front by accident. This must have been planned, and I heard one of the staff saying they suspect one of the other newly opened convenience stores in the area.

Surely this is a lot for a grocery store turf war???

  1. I’m going to say shit drivers not paying attention?

  2. Someone isn’t happy that the meal deal is now £3.85

  3. Certain people are targeting shops and supermarkets with their cars as a form of protest, it’s been happening quite a lot where I live. A Palestine protest that went down ended up resulting in the high street being smashed up

  4. I live above this in Halo tower. The place has been targeted by gangs for the last year or so, it started with little shits on roller skates going in and stealing anything they could get their hands on nearly daily and has now escalated to the place being ram raided three times.

It’s been closed for over a week now so I think Tesco might have just given up.

  5. I agree with OP, the timing with the opening of that new grocer down the road is suspicious. Three times in as many weeks sure makes it seem targeted at this point.

That or its related to the continued egging of the building over the road and they just needed some more eggs.

  6. What is going to happen is business is going to pull away and out of these shops. We have seen it all over the country try where once lovely areas become boarded up and people have to travel miles to get food etc.

Until we take a hard line approach on petty crime this kind of stuff will continue.

  7. I’m not a fan of this Tesco and their inflated prices, but it’s a pretty shit situation. I’ve written to the local police, and council about trying to get any kind of police presence for the road in general. So much crime, and drivers constantly on phones, speeding, revving.

There was also many thousands spent on a high street plan a few years ago to make it nicer, safer, and more pedestrian friendly….but so far, absolutely no steps have been taken 🙃

  8. Lived in this area for over 5 years, absolutely agree with the admin. This seems to be more of an attempt to get the Tesco closed permanently, unfortunately am not sure the authorities will ever look at it that way.

  9. You’d think after the second time that between Tesco and the council they would have installed some kind of barriers or bollards, especially as they already have some just not the whole way down the store front?

  10. I also heard one of the employees saying they think it’s the new shop around the corner causing all of this. I can see Tesco just leaving the area all together. They had issues with the ATM taking cards and a man attacking a woman there.

  11. They need to re-evaluate their hostile vehicle threat assessment and install some preventative street furniture and barriers…

  12. Pretty solvable with some well positioned bollards and planters I think? I mean it doesn’t stop the other crime but would stop the cars!

  13. I remember years ago I went to Mexico and they had metal bars on all the shops. You had to tell someone behind the bars what you wanted and they went and picked it for you. I can see that happening here one day.

  14. Tesco should just close down all the little metro stores in certain parts of London – It seems to much hassle to keep them open

  15. A long time ago there was a phenomenon known as “ram raiding ” . Is this a retro re-enactment ?
