  1. Don’t worry, supermarkets will be along soon to raise prices way above the rate of inflation!

  2. It’s good, bringing in 1 million extra people per year will make things better.

  3. It is a really big problem. I have just discovered my 22 year old younger brother has been skipping meals just to keep up with his bills. He works in adult social care, rents a one bed studio flat and other than work, eat and sleeping he can afford nothing. He has contemplated selling his cheap old car and use public transport instead but when running the figures it would cost about the same while having a huge impact on his freedom (semi rural town in Wiltshire). He is now ploughing overtime just so he can eat properly. He is depressed, at times suicidal and is reliant on medication just to get through life.

  4. Before we know it, we are going to have the Chinese organising concerts to help feed our poor, *shudder*

  5. I wonder how many of the 14 million voted for Brexit.

  6. We’re being grifted. Rich getting much fatter as we starve.
My landlord has over 32 properties and has been on upwards of 8 holidays this year.
We’re broke af and the place is mouldy.
    Its all working as intended.

  7. This is why they want to distract us with refugee boats

  8. The actual report for anyone who’s interested. I hate how bad “news” sites are at linking to actual sources.

The fact that one out of every five people in the country is living with food insecurity is pretty damning. But the media attention has moved on – just look at how little coverage you get about this kind of issues compared to a few years back, despite the significant increases.

  9. Waiting to see how Nigel spin this one about the boats… 🤔

  10. There is plenty of food at these refugee hotels. Please send British people who are in need there.

  11. On the bright side, at least we can offer homes to millions of new visitors and we’re making great progress on Net Zero.

  12. 150+ UK billionaires currently exist… Tax wealth? They would still be Billionaires after, not asking for it all, just enough for a functioning society!

  13. It’s gotten so bad in Scotland. People I work with having to go to food banks to survive even though working 40 hours a week.

  14. >Prevalence of overweight (including obesity), and obesity is highest in those living in the most deprived areas (71.5% and 35.9% respectively) and lowest in those living in the least deprived areas (59.6% and 20.5% respectively).

Honestly when you look at tangible, measurable data, it doesn’t agree with people going hungry.

1.6% are considered underweight in this country. That’s less than a million.

  15. Single M40 and I struggle pay for food these days only eating one meal a day, kinda depressing

  16. Fuck em, record profits and record dividends for a handful of people ill never be is what’s really important……

  17. The government’s solution is to cut benefits. At this point they’ve picked a side and it’s not UK citizens.

  18. It’s a good thing our taxes are being paid to house illegal immigrants instead of tackling things like this.

  19. And no doubt the ‘solution’ is higher tax?

Of these ‘14 million’ what’s been done to check they’re managing their finances correctly?

  20. If you have a free afternoon or morning, food banks are always looking for volunteers.

  21. Min wage for a 40hr week is 1800 a month take home. I live on 2k a month myself and I’m supporting my family and paying a mortgage. I’m not trying to belittle people I’m genuinely interested in what that money is getting spent on?
