  1. Data taken from here:

    and https://www.ceicdata.com/en via https://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/main/home

Credit to /u/Early_Ad_7331 for their post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/uh39uy/european_and_mena_regions_by_their_level_of/) for updated versions (and discussions of criteria they used to compile that information – so best ask questions to ask in that thread for clarification purposes)

I can’t crosspost it directly to this subreddit, so I’m linking above.

It’s based on GDP Per Capita + HDI + GDP Per Capita PPP + GDPR

Edit: [The rest of the World compared]( https://www.reddit.com/gallery/uhbwra) – OP really outdid themselves

  2. We are the only EU country who went from Developed to Developing. The economic crisis really destroyed us.

  3. Lol

    Greenland…. Developed….
Really good job there… Totally believable work here.

This shit is hogwash, yeah the very developed parts of Saudi Arabia…..

    This is a meme.

  4. In the UK areas with major financial centres like West Yorkshire are not classed as developed but the highlands in Scotland are, this seems very strange to me.

  5. Sadly true about Poland. Most regions outside of metropolis are still underdeveloped compared to western standards. People in those regions vote PiS. We need another 15-20 years to fully develop. Economically, socially and politically. I expect most issues to be solved with the generational shifts.

  6. The Beaty of living under Soviet control for everyone to see. 30 years on and countries are still trying to recover.

And then there’s Spain, Portugal, and Turkey…

  7. Lol why is the North West of England ‘almost developed’ it’s not the richest region of the UK but it has a developed economy similar to all of the blue parts.

This is just money and has a lot to do with currency conversion at the time of print.

  8. I can only imagine the scale was based on some random number generator. Not only does it not match GDP, which it is supposedly based on, it is inaccurate even on that.

  9. Parts of Ireland being lower than most of Poland and Romania surprises me, seems odd.

Also the regions of Latvia being all over the place is odd. Riga should be blue but the rest of the country feels more yellow/orange

  10. Quite surprised to see extremely rural, isolated parts of Norway and Sweden in blue here, and Brittany and Galicia only green. Yellow for Andalusia, yet green for Castile & Leon also odd.

  11. The whole Serbia surprised me, didn’t expect Belgrade to be very developed, but also didn’t expect Vojvodina to be underdeveloped.

  12. Algarve region in Portugal is definitely not more developed than Porto or the North in general… What standards is this going by?

  13. This seems… Questionable.

I didn’t realise I lived in an “almost developed” county. Doesn’t the southwest contain some of the biggest cities in England?
