Fuck sake, police need to do their jobs and get them away from there before someone gets seriously hurt.
Edit: Before anyone wilfully misinterprets this, I’m talking about the people outside the hotel throwing bricks, not those currently housed inside.
The people saying they are protecting women and children are the people that women and children need protecting from
I am amazed they are still hosting them there after one of the migrants has been convicted of such a serious offence.
That is creating a magnet for trouble. It isn’t fair to the people stuck there.
Our country is sleepwalking into riots.
What was the brick thrower hoping to achieve?
1. It shows a violent tendency to those opposed to the hotel which undermines their cause.
2. It’s actively creating a fearful environment for those residing there, some of whom may have fled war or persecution.
3. It’s inciting further escalation of violence.
In before “but one of them raped” I’m not defending those who commit heinous crimes.
Such a shite state of affairs for my beloved home town, fuck those that spread hate and division through racist and fascist rhetoric.
xenophobia is a cancer of the mind, as a Scot in the US I am saddened to see Scots falling for this
The anger people are feeling is understandable. Outside of r/Scotland most Scots are angry about these people being here but this is not the way. Protests should be peaceful and hopefully the brick thrower is dealt with
This is the consequence of not checking the misinformation spread by the rightwing media and believed by the wilfully ignorant.
These people feel emboldened and righteous. Worse will come.
The disgusting hypocrisy of this act of violence is that the perpetrator is far more likely to be a danger to women and children than any of the asylum seekers who have been forcibly placed in the hotel without any say in the matter.
This has become the local circus. Just look at the ones shouting. It’s a Saturday or Sunday outing for them. Something to look forward to. They are not afraid to show their anger . They are more afraid of a cake of soap. 🧼
