I rarely go to Morrisons as it always seems abandoned, the electric is usually off in one aisle and it just seems sad. Then I saw this romantic scene around the “market” corner, honestly this just adds to its abandonment quirk.

  1. They are for you. We’ve been waiting a long time for you to take a seat.

  2. This is the arm wrestling station, two shoppers go at it and the winner gets a free pick from the deli counter.

  3. Our local one has a sign explaining it. They’re seats to sit on if you’re tired, need a break etc.

  4. I always imagine they’re for an old couple to rest or something lmao

  5. Reminds me of the Superstore scene: Jonah’s interview with Lauren.

  6. For people with cardio or mobility problems. It is a good idea.

Honestly Reddit baffles me at times.

  7. Shop cucks. Dudes watch other dudes fill their wives baskets with various items.

  8. Our local Morrisons is a lot less “28 Days Later” than this, but has several tables and chairs dotted around in the same way. To be the boring guy that gives you a straight answer… my elderly father-in-law loves it because he can take a rest while doing his shopping, and it’s especially useful on days where he’s not feeling strong enough to get his mobility scooter out of the boot of the car.

  9. Unlike every other supermarket Morrisons always seems to have so much open space.

Surely that’s prime product space being under utilised?

  10. Performance art collaboration with Marina Abramović to promote Morrisons new range of pies. Starts at 2pm.

  11. For customers to take a break, but where I work the toilet paper and boxes of beer seem to be the popular resting places for customers.

  12. Dunno – they were very confused when I turned up to the tills with them in my trolley.

  13. They normally have a sign with them.

They’re there for people to take a rest if needed, have a chat with someone else if you want to etc

  14. “So come on…. Don’t be late… Your time is coming…. Hey hey….. ” Get your liminal nightmares now, at Market Street, in Morrisons now!

  15. in my local morrisons they’re right next to the bakery, id happily sit there tbf just because it smells good

  16. It was for Morrison’s Great British Chess Tournament but somebody stole the board.

  17. My crippled arse who’s too stubborn to use the mobility scooters and ends up wearing myself out or subluxing a knee or hip.

  18. They had these right by the entrance of my local Morrisons for years, made sense to me and it came in handy if you were waiting for a taxi etc

Now they are just Infront of the bakery counter?? Super random

  19. They should be near the men’s toiletry aisle I nearly fainted when I say they were charging £5.99 for a 250ml tin of Lynx body spray.

  20. i love them in my Morrisons should be mandatory everywhere

  21. For people who want to have a sit down. That’s difficult to get your head around?

  22. They have that in Morrison’s up my way. Must just be somewhere for the old one’s to sit, or something to talk with management on how the store is run to engage more of a community space kind of thing.

  23. Older folks who just want a sit down for 5 minutes whilst shopping.

  24. Well hello there from the same specific West Midlands town!

  25. They’ve got something like this in my local, by the bakery aisle. Always wondered what the point of it was

  26. For people who can’t stand too long and need to sit down while shopping.

  27. My Morrisons has these and honestly while me and my mate didn’t need them we just decided to have a sit down on em and just had a conversation. Whilst I guess this may find a way of being disrespectful as we are taking chairs that may be seat for those who NEED it. They were honestly quite nice to just have a seat mid shop.

  28. My Morrisons is always heaving. We have a low coffee table and 2 comfy armchairs for people who may need a rest ; elderly, disabled maybe mothers to bottle feed babies. I guess they could go to the cafe but may feel they need to buy something but the seating area is at the complete opposite end to the cafe so definitely has its uses.

  29. Honestly, those two chairs were a lifesaver when I was pregnant. They weren’t for sale, they were just chilling there, taking a well-deserved break while my husband was busy doing our shopping 🛒 . I don’t blame them though they looked more relaxed than I ever felt in those 9 months 😂

  30. One time I was doing my shopping and an elderly man approached me saying he thought he was having an Angina attack.

Luckily I knew there were these chairs avaliable in store so I guided him over to one, flagged down a member of staff for a glass of water and had a couple other staff members come up and check he was okay.

After 15 minutes he was feeling better and was okay to get home, even bought me a candle as thanks lol

So I was very glad these chairs were available at the time ☺️

  31. My local Morrisons has the little table in front of the bakery, I once saw a little old couple eating their donuts on the table…impromptu cafe!

  32. As someone with knee issues I’d love to see this and be able to take a rest.

Found an abandoned chair in home bargains once – a lifesaver that day.

  33. You’ve got your answer, now answer this – where the hell is this (and what time)? I’ve never seen such a quiet yet, as it appears, well stocked supermarket! Our local Morrisons is nothing fancy, but it is a lot busier than that!

  34. As someone with arthritis, any seats are welcomed. They are there for people who need a chair to rest. I wish more places did this.

  35. So in true Brit fashion, instead of asking someone while you were there, you took a photo to ask strangers on the internet.
