USA: Donald Trump threatens to unleash his “Department of War” on Chicago • FRANCE 24 English

I believe an ominous warning from the US president echoing the film Apocalypse Now after he rebranded the Department of Defense as the Department of War. I love the smell of deportations in the morning. Chicago about to find out why it’s called the Department of War. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has not confirmed whether it has sent more agents to Chicago. The governor of Illinois has said that he believes immigration raids would coincide with Mexican Independence Day festivals organized for this weekend and next. Some Mexican festivals in the Chicago area have been called off amid fears of raids. Trump’s threats have also prompted many Latino residents to carry their US passports. Residents of the Democratic stronghold took to the streets in the wake of the president’s warnings. Every single immigrant is a human. Every single immigrant has every single right to have their families stay together. And we held a rally at Broad View last week. When the cops tried to tell us to leave, when ICE tried to tell us to leave, we stayed and they were forced to accept our presence. [Applause] Chicago’s residents are also bracing for the potential arrival of National Guard troops after the US president announced he decided on another city he plans to send them without specifying where. Trump’s troop and federal agent deployments which started in June in Los Angeles, followed by Washington after Trump declared what he called a crime emergency are viewed by critics as an authoritarian display of force. Earlier this week, a federal judge ruled that his administration illegally deployed National Guard troops in Los Angeles amid demonstrations against immigration raids. Donald Trump has also threatened to deploy National Guard troops to New York City. The Democratic candidate to become the city’s next mayor, Zoran Mdani, addressed the issue at a town hall meeting in Brooklyn alongside US Senator Bernie Sanders. Take a listen. Could I ask to protect this city? the National Guard coming in. The first thing is we have to prepare for the inevitability of that deployment. We saw in California the mayor of LA, the attorney general of the state, and the governor work together to fight back against the White House’s deployment of the National Guard. They filed a lawsuit. A federal judge just recently found in their favor that the deployment of the National Guard was illegal. I give you this example because partnership is critically important in fighting back against Donald [Applause]

  4. I dont get why these people complain. if you got a criminal record, especially for rape or murder or drugs and entered a country illegally, deportation is a kindness and cheaper on everyone's wallets, time and energy.

  5. You need to deport your wife first president Trump you're going to do immigrants she's an immigrant make sure your house is okay before you do anybody else I'm bringing the national guard to Chicago does not make any sense we are fine here and we are holding our own

  9. How can you enter a Country illegally? Went thru Immigration twice, had to pay my Fees, filling out my paperwork. It’s unfair to those that are coming in the legal way🥺
