Uruguay has strongly condemned the Israeli airstrike on Doha, Qatar’s capital, expressing solidarity with the Qatari government and people.
The Uruguayan government described the attack as a flagrant violation of international law and Qatar’s sovereignty, further destabilizing an already fragile security situation in the Middle East. Uruguay also reiterated its urgent call to uphold efforts toward a negotiated and comprehensive solution to the Gaza crisis.
The airstrike, carried out on Tuesday, targeted senior Hamas leaders involved in ceasefire negotiations. While key Hamas figures survived, five lower-ranking members and a Qatari security official were killed, escalating regional tensions.
Qatar condemned the strike in the strongest terms, labeling it a “cowardly” and “reckless” violation of international norms. The attack has sparked widespread international condemnation, including from Iran and numerous countries across West Asia and beyond.
