Filled my ballot papers in yesterday. Posted them this morning.
Been on “austerity” pay increases of 1% for almost a decade now, with every year bringing the same excuses as to why it can’t be more.
As someone who not only worked through the pandemic, but actually had a hand in setting up the furlough schemes, can’t say I’m not bitter about simultaneously being a key worker that helped the country through covid, but also the first in line to be told I can’t get a pay increase because of Covid.
Also enjoy the “lazy civil servant” chat from folk who likely sat getting drunk in their gardens for a year while I worked through, having to cancel quite a few annual leave days from staff shortages
Ironically due to poor pay rises, I’m not sure I can afford to strike. But I’ll definitely give it a go in solitary.
