Sad truth for stubborn William is it’s him not Harry looking bad now

  1. For context, Tessa Dunlop is the *journalist* who said “we have lost control of William” because William refused to divulge details about Catherine during the whole*Where is Kate* saga.

  2. Journalists want William to respond because it fuels gossip and headlines. When Meghan and Harry first started speaking out about the royal family and William, there were people and journalists saying the Royal family had to respond, they had to apologise, fight back, deny, etc….but William and that lot, officially at least, kept going like it was business as usual, and while they lost popularity with some, they didn’t lose it with all, they retained enough popularity to continue on, and that’s the main thing. Refusing to engage in tit for tat is, in the long one, usually the best choice for those who have the upper hand.

  3. It took a huge effort for Harry to leave and it was clearly painful all round, with the all parties paying the toll. I’ve wondered whether there is an element of jealousy from William as he can never escape in the same way, his life is carved out in stone and he is very much constrained by protocol.

“Spare”, clearly widened the chasm between the two and William must have felt betrayed by it, there are elements in the book which are highly embarrassing for William and unbecoming of a future King. In hindsight, Harry may look back and regret including certain elements, but people who are hurting are rarely rational and of course it was in the publishers best interest to include as many as possible.

Can they reunite, of course, but with the media spotlight firmly shining on any trip home Harry makes, that first step becomes all the harder. I’m sure at some point there will be discussions, possibly enforced through an engagement, I just hope it is before any further health issues for the King.

  4. From Daily Mail

[LIZ JONES: Harry is doing everything right and I am overjoyed at his long-awaited reunion with Charles – now mean William needs to get off his high horse](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/royals/article-15085883/LIZ-JONES-Harry-reunion-Charles-William.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=social-twitter_dailymailUK)

I am not even surprised the media has turned on William. Charles has always been chummy with the press. There is a reason Harry has invited almost all the royal reporters at all his engagements.

He has no problem playing the same **dirty game** he accused his family of.

  5. Fair or not, their relationship breakdown will hang over King William and continue to be a distraction. Doing anything with titles or line of succession will play well with some and look vengeful to others. I think the best thing Will can do is make some kind of deal Harry if that’s even possible. I don’t think Charles will live long enough for 20-something Wales kids to draw all the attention. Every time Harry comes home the will-they-won’t-they continues.

  6. >In keeping with most young Britons, my seven-year-old daughter can’t name the Princess of Wales, and perhaps more telling, my 16-year-old resents knowing it.

Honestly the most interesting part of the article, given the author’s line of work.

  7. The fact that Harry’s visit pushed William and Kate to get to work as a working royal, makes them seem so small and petty. It’s tragic that the relationship between two estranged brothers can’t be left to them in private. We only know a glimmer of where and why they are resentful and angry. It can’t help to have the input of the public and agendas of PR machines and external glares to find peace in whatever the trajectory of their relationship as brothers.

  8. Didn’t read the article yet but my two cents is he should have met with Harry if only to take away the media frenzy that will happen at Charles funeral. Not meeting with him now means the focus will remain on Harry and their relationship which is probably the opposite of what he wants.

  9. That isn’t a bad thing lol! They both have their faults but Harry did go to the press. I understand why he wouldn’t trust him. I do hope they become ok at least. No one can convince me that Charles isn’t the one saying stuff like this. I hope he isn’t using Harry as a pawn to get back at William for something. From what we have seen him do to his sons it’s likely.

  10. a lot of people have siblings they don’t get along with. That people may think Charles and Harry should forgive each other since they are father and son but would have a different opinion about the relationship between William and Harry.

I have no stakes in if they forgive each other or don’t. But as an outsider I think it’s all for PR, phone calls or visits not in the public eye could easily be arranged if they wanted them to be.
