This (admittedly pro-Ukraine American) analyst argues that Russia knew there wouldn’t be an aggressive response from NATO, and the aim is not to destroy targets or probe defences, but rather to make the populations of NATO countries scared of attacks on their own territory. The goal is to redirect anti air defences from going to Ukraine to protecting NATO airspace where they won’t really be used or needed, and thus reducing defences in Ukraine.

Which is why we need to set up a no fly zone over Ukraine West of dnipro.
Too much of the “pro-Ukraine” side in 2025 will hyperfocus on “saving” Ukraine, even if it means escalating beyond all reason or undermine other countries’ security or economic well-being. So, I don’t completely trust those voices. Also, someone who claims [pre-WW1 warfare was conducted with “sculptured depictions of the crucifixition”](https://youtu.be/kAqHnMXLUno?t=688) does not exactly sound like an erudite authority on geopolitics in my book.
But bots says otherwise, and bots can get you banned.
While they’ll keep posting shit as usual, and Reddit seems to like that shit
dont forget “pro-ukrainian american” is often times a russian op disguised as one
Of course there would not be an aggressive response to a couple of decoys held with ducktape, considering it would really lead to an escalation. Interesting take though, are NATO air defense units that scarce?
Nonsensical Armchair general – with a lot of self importance. And lots of ridiculous extrapolation. Did you know that Russia has been intruding western air space since the cold war. Its just the same reason as always; investigate our reaction, our resolve and also much lesser degree wase resources …
Its a test and not much more.
Nothing to do with redirecting resources – in case he haven’t noticed all the equpment being send isn’t what they would provide to Ukraine anyway.
Example: France send Rafale’s of its active army and not Mirage’s that are being discontinued in Ukraine. Germany send Europfighters. There are no Eurofighters planned for Ukraine.
