The government of Republika Srpska on Thursday issued a decision to ban entry into Republika Srpska for Slovenian President Natasa Pirc Musar, as well as for the country’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has been ordered to prevent the entry of the aforementioned persons into the territory of Republika Srpska and to escort them outside the borders of Republika Srpska if they are in Republika Srpska.

The Government of Republika Srpska has no jurisdiction over such decisions, as this is the responsibility of the BiH Border Police, the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, the BiH Ministry of Security, and the BiH Presidency.

Prior to this illegal decision by the Government of Republika Srpska, the Government of Slovenia banned Milorad Dodik from entering. The reason was not disclosed, but it was said to be a “secret.”

This was announced after the session by the Deputy Prime Minister of Slovenia, Matej Arcon.

In early August, Dodik was sentenced to one year in prison and a six-year ban on holding public office in Bosnia and Herzegovina for disobeying the decisions of the High Representative of the International Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Following the final decision, the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina stripped him of his mandate as President of RS.

Dodik has been banned from entering Austria and Germany since April due to separatist movements and undermining the Dayton Peace Agreement.

Entry ban procedures were initiated by Poland and Estonia.

In mid-July, members of the European Parliament also called for sanctions against Dodik in the European Commission’s Progress Report on Bosnia and Herzegovina, due to “divisive rhetoric and separatist policies.”

The European Union has so far been unable to agree on sanctions against Dodik, due to opposition from Hungarian leader Viktor Orban.

Dodik, along with several other RS officials, has been on the US “blacklist” since last year for undermining the Dayton Agreement and threatening the integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The sanctions were imposed after the RS parliament passed laws overturning decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the High Representative.

Dodik has been on the United Kingdom’s sanctions list since April 2022.

Dodik, his family members, and several companies associated with them have long been on the US OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sanctions list. These sanctions prohibit financial transactions with Dodik and anyone else sanctioned anywhere in the world.
