Croatian citizens will no longer need a visa to travel to South Africa for stays of up to 90 days.
The decision marks an important step forward in strengthening relations between the two nations, Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs said.
The decision follows months of diplomatic engagement led by Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, together with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Croatian Embassy in Pretoria.
Relations gained additional momentum in December 2024 when South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Alvin Botes, visited Zagreb for political consultations.
Until now, South Africa’s strict visa regime required Croatian nationals to apply for a visa before travelling, a process which complicated both leisure travel and business opportunities.
Strengthening 🇭🇷-🇿🇦 ties: Croatian citizens can now visit South Africa visa-free for up to 90 days. A step forward as our cooperation extends into Africa – continent of the future 🌍. Croatian passport is gaining more strength globally.

The new exemption will make it easier for Croatian citizens and businesses to engage with South Africa, a country with significant influence on the African continent and globally, and which currently holds the presidency of the G20, Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs said in its statement.
