Find out if the air pollution in your postcode breaks legal limits.

  1. Have they really tested the air outside every house in the country?

One end of my postcode is in the 80th percentile, the other is in the 95th, 100 yards down the same road.

Either way the air is shit.

Edit. also has anyone got a link to the actual map?

  2. 31st percentile, lucky me?

I read the faq, but I’m not totally sure about the house accuracy, given the number of monitoring stations it used, but certainly highlights what everyone knows of air pollution.

  3. I live in the countryside so I assumed mine would be pretty good but PM2.5 is 8.49mcg/m3, PM10 at this address is 14.47mcg/m3, N02 at this address is 8.93mcg/m3. It’s below the average on N02 and PM10 but above average on PM2.5.

  4. 10th percentile.
Above the “legal” limit in 2 parts but not the other.

Kinda daft having a legal limit if there is no recourse from it being broken.

  5. WTF

    >At this address, the annual average of the pollutant PM2.5 is 10.18mcg/m3. The World Health Organization limit is 5mcg/m3.
    >
    >The reading for PM10 at this address is 17.12mcg/m3. The limit is 15mcg/m3.
    >
    >The reading for N02 at this address is 12.75mcg/m3. The limit is 10mcg/m3.
    >
    >This address is in the 42nd national percentile

Might have to move **into** a city for health reasons…

  6. Huh, 76th percentile. Small town. We are close to some main roads (shortest distance is about 0.3 miles away) and we are close to a flight path with planes coming in to land (or taking off) from the nearby private airport.

  7. Why do they want my actual address? It’s not like postcodes are very big. Also I don’t think there are enough sensors.

  8. Well damn, I’m in the 92nd percentile. That is a surprise. Right by the coast in a small town so I always presumed it would be better than inland in the big cities.

  9. Well thank you so much for this award, Very High Air Pollution, Exceeds three W.H.O. limits, 95th percentile. I won’t say it was unexpected but I must say I’m choked up and I’d like to thank everyone who contributed.

    PM2.5: 2.5 x limit

    PM10: 1.3 x limit

    NO2: 3.3 x limit
