Correct me if I’m wrong but are they saying their beverage won’t quench my thirst? I’ll “stay thirsty”?

  3. “Stay thirsty” is correct. It sounds weird to me as well, but they likely intended a meaning of “”keep desiring our product””.

  4. “Buy our water bottles to “stay thirsty” so you’ll have to buy even more bottles…” an endless consumerism cycle. Hm, when I think about it more closely, it seems brilliant to me.

  5. In German there is also the saying “Durstig nach neuen” or “Wissensdurst habe” which essentially means that one should keep this thirst. I assume that it is derived from this.

  7. “Stay thirsty” was in a couple American ads a few years back, it was supposed to imply you’ll keep drinking the beverage. I think it was for a Superbowl beer commercial? I suspect the literal translation maybe doesn’t work as well in German, and makes even less sense with water. 

    Edit: I found it, Dos Equis, “stay thirsty my friends”. The original is from 2010. Oddly enough I’ve never seen anyone drink the beer IRL but the commercial is memorable. Without the context of the original ad it doesn’t make much sense I agree.
