Israeli airstrikes on Yemen’s capital kill dozens • FRANCE 24 English

Thick plumes of smoke rose above Sana once more after a fresh round of Israeli air strikes on the Yemeni capital. It was the latest retaliation in the escalating conflict between Israel and Houthi militants. A few days ago, we eliminated most members of the Houthi terrorist government. In response, the Houthis fired two days ago at the Raman airport. This did not weaken our resolve. Today, we struck them again from the air, hitting their terrorist facilities. The nearly two-year conflict escalated drastically in late August when the Houthi prime minister and several Yemeni officials were killed in an Israeli strike. The group responded by firing a series of drones and missiles into Israel, hitting an airport in the south, and sparking the latest retaliation. Israel says Wednesday’s attack targeted a Houthi military headquarter, a propaganda department, and a fuel station. But a spokesperson for the group later denied this, claiming the strikes, which killed dozens of people, were purely aimed at civilian targets. The United Nations, meanwhile, reiterated calls for a ceasefire and urged both sides to put an end to the fighting. We note with grave concern uh the continued uh Israeli air strikes that took place today as well as the Houthi attacks that had been targeting uh Israel. What we want to see is a cessation of all military activities between Israel and the Houthis. Yet with both parties eager to have the last word, the conflict is showing no signs of abading. Yemen’s Houthybacked president on Wednesday vowed to continue attacking Israel, saying the response was coming without fail.

Israel launched another round of heavy airstrikes in Yemen on Wednesday, killing dozens just days after Houthi rebels carried out a drone attack that struck an Israeli airport. Most of the 35 people killed were in Sanaa, the capital, where a military headquarters and a fuel station were hit, the health ministry said.
