US immigration agents arrest hundreds at Hyundai plant, mostly Koreans • FRANCE 24 English
First, a dramatic scene in the United States. A massive immigration raid in the state of Georgia. Hundreds of federal agents, many masked and armed, told workers at a car plant owned by South Korean manufacturer Hyundai to line up. Nearly 500 people were detained. ICE and Homeland Security were accompanied by the Georgia State Patrol, the FBI, the DEA, the ATF, and other agencies in executing a search warrant. It is one of the latest raids and the largest yet by the Trump administration’s crackdown on immigration. Reaction from Soul. South Korea’s foreign ministry expressed concern and regret. Officials to fly to Washington to try and resolve uh the issues. And this comes after July when South Korea pledged to invest $350 billion in America, including 26 billion by Hyundai alone as part of a trade deal reached with the Trump administration. Peter O’Brien has more on the raid. As US Immigration and Customs Enforcement conducted their largest ever raid on a single site, some tried to flee. Come on, fellas. And were fished out of the facto’s sewage pond. Construction has stopped at H Highendai’s massive car battery facility in Georgia after US authorities arrested 475 people there, most of whom South Korean nationals, accusing them of illegal work. Officials said it was the culmination of a month’sl long investigation. Homeland security. This was not a immigration operation where agents went into the premises, rounded up folks, and put them on buses. Agents did though go into the premises, round up people, and put them on buses. Most were taken to an immigration detention center near Florida. One man who used to work at the site spoke about the fear caused by such operations. You know, nobody in America should ever be treated like that or have to work in these kind of conditions. It’s caused uproar in South Korea. At a summit last month, the country pledged $150 billion in US investments, including 26 billion from Hyundai Motor. Indeed, Georgian officials had built the mega site as the biggest single investment in the state’s history. The economic activities of our companies investing in the United States and the interests of our citizens must not be unduly violated during the course of US law enforcement. Hyundai Motor says it will investigate the employment practices of its suppliers and subcontractors and bring the site under its full control.
Hundreds of workers at a Hyundai Motor car battery facility under construction in Georgia were detained in a raid by U.S. authorities on Thursday, stopping work on a plant that is one of the Korean automaker’s major investments in the U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration has been escalating a crackdown on immigrants, disrupting businesses around the country, even as the White House has encouraged more inflows from foreign investors. Story by Peter O’Brien.

That’s it. No foreign country is going to invest in US anymore. It’s just too disruptive. Sure loose money one.
Why waste money on immigrant’s from decent countries, just kick the ones from the shithole countries out
South Koreans copy cat American iPhone, South Koreans steal wages and pay unfair wages, South Koreans steal taxes
. No more kpop,, let them get a job
These were suppose to be american jobs
This is simply preposterous. The tragic thing is, many of these ICE agents are Latinos are turning against other Latinos, unaware that one way of another, they'll be next on the T-Admin list.
When is the UK going to do this, i love America, but im a tad jealous at the moment. The US is healing when the UK is dying
so Orange Man wants companies to open in America,
so he can raid and arrest their workers.
Make it make sense
That's why France is my favourite African country in Europe
we need a better world order. not controlled by one bully but a multilateral world order
Remember, Marge T Green is one of the Republican Representatives from Georgia who just went against rump re his friend the child rapist… No surprise that her state was targeted, and now Florida folks will make money for imprisoning the people sucked up by the Republican goons.
Destruction of the US
After factory is buit, not 300~400 jobs at least 8000~9000 job were to be made for the Americans. What a shame.
They should come to Europe, we let anyone in and nobody ever gets sent home.
This plant builds So Korean vehicles. They hire So Koreans to work there. Why not Americans? The people working there are here illegally. Not criminal. But as mentioned, under "not so nice" working conditions. Obviously worse than American workers. So I appears to me that ICE is working the way it should. If any American factory employs illegal immigrants, those immigrants should speak English and become US citizens. If they don't undergo that, they deserve to be deported. Or if they really are sincere, learn to speak English, the plant should be speaking English – and there should be American/US workers there too.
The bankrupt state has an opinion
The company needs a hefty fine.
