    The US government should hold a minute of silence for him only after they hold 5 full hours of silence for those killed in mass shooting in the US this year alone.

    His wife and children deserve peace and justice for his murder, just like the families of the roughly 10 thousand unsolved murder cases in the US this year.

    Charlie Kirk is a victim of gun violence. That isn’t rare. That isn’t special. That doesn’t deserve medals or honours or vigils or marches. It deserves action.

    The most basic principle of risk and harm mitigation is prevention. How do you prevent harm from a dangerous object? You control it. You limit access. You train people in and licence its use. Thinks that’s too strict? Think that’s government overreach? That’s literally what’s required to drive a car.

    Charlie Kirk is dead. My sympathies to his family and children.

  45. My family have lived in Australia for 37 years. Many years ago we had a mass shooting in Tasmania. The Prime Minister and Attorney General, both strong conservatives, passed legislation to take away the hand guns and make them almost impossible to get. If an American President tried that he would be tarred and feathered and thrown out on the street.
