Transport Minister Maja Vukićević said that they are currently working on another “very important” airline connecting Montenegro with Great Britain.

She met with British Ambassador Dawn McCann, with whom she discussed further improving air connectivity between the two countries, as well as the increasingly significant presence of British airlines on the Montenegrin market.

The Minister pointed out that Montenegro’s Airports have made a strong step forward in cooperation with British carriers EasyJet and Jet2.com in the past period, whose seasonal flights, instead of only during the height of summer, have been expanded to the entire summer flight schedule from the end of March to the end of October. In this way, she points out, the number of British passengers at Tivat Airport has reached record levels.

As emphasized at the meeting, Podgorica has been connected to London year-round for many years through the low-cost carrier Ryanair, which has ensured a stable and affordable connection with one of the most important European markets.

“In the first seven months of this year, EasyJet and Jet2.com have both achieved growth of 27% compared to last year, confirming that the new incentive scheme, approved by the Department for Transport, is already delivering visible results,” the department said.

Vukićević pointed out that it is already clear through the confirmed flights for 2026 that the next year will be even more successful for Montenegrin airports.

“We expect the Airport management to continue with additional financial and organizational steps, so that, in addition to established low-cost carriers, we can also attract network companies that guarantee better connectivity of Montenegro with hub European and global airports. We are currently working on having another very important company connect Montenegro with Great Britain,” said the minister.

The meeting also discussed infrastructure challenges due to major interventions on the road near Tivat airport, a project that began in January 2024 and which, as announced, will be completed before the start of the next summer season, which will “significantly improve traffic flow and safety” in the area.

“The interlocutors agreed that there is great potential for strengthening cooperation and further growth in the number of British travelers to Montenegro, which is in mutual interest and further contributes to the economic and tourism ties between the two countries,” the statement reads.
