Defiant nuns flee Austrian care home for their abandoned convent in the Alps

6. The story is so much worse. The provost allegedly made them sign a mandate which allowed him to took their savings and close their bank accounts, which they were unaware of and since they trusted the provost, haven’t even considered to be malicious.
   They were given a contract which stated they may live in the convent for the rest of their lives but further down there was a passage which negates that agreement.
   When they visited another convent in Germany, they were driven to the elderly care home, without any information, only with what they had with them. They were not allowed to return to their convent to retrieve personal belongings, as well as cash, which they hid in their wardrobe.

   After speaking to a reporter and getting some public attention they got a threatening message to obey their provost.

   I am happy to see their story is getting more attention. This behaviour is medieval and has no place in modern society. I wish them all the best and that this case gets investigated.

7. what a wonderful story, and I must say the defiance part, goes across the board to all females when they set their mind to something and are quite determined. There is very little if anything that’s going to stop them, it’s always best to use caution and politely get out of the way.

   It is refreshing to read something that makes you feel good and has a heartwarming story attached. It’s a welcome change from rhetoric filled American news. That never misses an opportunity of a tragedy to keep viewers, glued to their television, spinning them up and giving them anxiety. They have mastered the art of making tragic and horrible situations, considerably worse because big ratings equals big money.

   I hope the sisters live out their days happily and in the Meadows and home they’ve lived for so long and are comfortable in.

10. I bet the Prévost is scheming tosell theirold convent. Cause the same happened here in Italy manytimes as convents are often in very pleasant tourist places. It happened in Amalfi coast Ravello too.

11. I do not completely understand the drama. It was sad for them to leave what has been their home for many years, but doesn’t that happen to a lot of people all the time?
    Again, it is sad, like it is sad to become old and die.
    I am happy that they are back and that people are taking care of them until it works. I wouldn’t say that the church did something so bad. They couldn’t keep that establishment because it surely costs a fortune. It gave them, I am sure, a nice place in a care home. There are much worse places, and I am sure that for their health, the care home was a better place.

12. I’m Austrian and happy the story gets known so widespread, as it makes me so incredibly angry. The ladies spent their whole life in support of the church and the gratitude they receive is being lied to and being betrayed. Now they are even reprimanded for “not obeying”. Just another lovely example of Christian charity and the treatment of women in the Abrahamic religions…
